Why Steel-Frame Modular Homes Are a Better Build

Steel framing and modular construction suit each other. Here is why a steel frame makes a modular home stronger, straighter, and longer-lasting.

Why Steel-Frame Modular Homes Are a Better Build

Every modX home is framed in steel. That is a deliberate choice, and it matters even more in a modular home than in a traditional one. Here is why steel framing and modular construction belong together.

Steel does not move

Steel does not warp, twist, shrink, or swell with moisture. Walls stay straight and openings stay square, so doors and windows keep working years later. In a modular home, the sections are built in a factory and then transported and installed, so a frame that holds its shape through that process and over time is a real advantage.

Strong, termite-proof, and fire-resistant

Steel is strong for its weight, which suits sections that have to be lifted, moved, and set in place. It gives termites nothing to eat, which removes an ongoing risk in much of Queensland, and it does not feed a fire. These are not marketing points; they are the practical reasons steel is a better frame for a home that has to last.

Precision suits the factory

A modular home is only as good as the consistency of its build. Steel framing is made to exact dimensions, which fits a factory process where every home is built to the same specification. The result is a tighter, more repeatable build than cutting and fixing timber on site, in the weather.

Built to last, and recyclable

A steel frame is built for the long term, and the steel is recyclable at the end of its life. Recycled and recyclable steel is a core part of how we manufacture, alongside in-factory waste management and timber flooring with a recycled component.

Steel vs timber

Timber will frame a perfectly good home, and it is the traditional choice. The trade-offs are movement over time, the need to protect against termites and moisture, and a result that varies with site conditions. For a deeper look, see our guide on steel frame vs timber frame.
